We are thankful for how God has demonstrated his great faithfulness to Esperanza Health Center during the past year! Over the past few months, we’ve welcomed four new primary medical care providers and a new dentist, and our staff has grown in size to nearly 150 employees. During 2012, we will have provided over 40,000 combined medical, dental and behavioral health patient visits at our three health center locations; we’ve also launched several exciting new health and wellness initiatives. Thank you for your prayers for us in 2013 as we continue to serve our patients and as we reach out to our community!

New Health Promoter Class Graduates
On December 1st, our newest class of 21 Community Health Promoters graduated in a ceremony held at our Hunting Park Health and Wellness Center. We have now graduated a total of 141 health promoters since the program started in the spring of 2010. Thanks for your prayers and support for our Community Health Promoters, as they partner with Esperanza and local churches in reaching out to many North Philadelphia residents in 2013!
Coming Soon – Farm to Families
Earlier this fall, we received a generous grant award from the St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children to become a host site for the Farm to Families food access initiative, starting in early 2013. Said Rachel Kim, Esperanza’s Assistant Director of Community Health and Wellness: “We’re very excited to partner with the St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children as a Farm to Families host site, to make affordable fresh fruits and vegetables available right here at our Hunting Park Health and Wellness Center.” To learn more about Farm to Families, click here.
Election Day at Esperanza
On Election Day, November 6th, 2012, Esperanza Health Center participated as an election polling place for the first time in its history, as several hundred people cast their votes at our Hunting Park gymnasium. The Esperanza Café was open to serve guests, and staff members provided information about the health center’s services.
