Volunteering at Esperanza

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Esperanza health Center! Since Esperanza’s founding almost thirty years ago, volunteers have been an integral part of the Esperanza team in a wide range of roles, helping Esperanza fulfill our mission to provide affordable, compassionate quality health care and services to our community.

Current needs exist in the following areas. If you are interested in any of them, please email Karen Norris, Volunteer Coordinator at karen.norris@esperanzahealth.com or complete the volunteer form at the link below.

  2. Ability to initiate conversation with patients
  3. Dependability

An IT volunteer is sought to assist with IT support tasks. While the position is primarily at the Hunting Park site, there will be tasks across Esperanza’s three sites.  Skills needed:

  1. Dependability
  2. Though a high level of computer knowledge is not required, must be computer literate
  3. Able to follow directions, problem-solve and work well with others

Schedule: We seek an IT volunteer to serve weekly or biweekly for four hours each session on a regular basis for at least six months.

Readers are needed to read to children in pediatric waiting rooms at the Hunting Park and Kensington sites. Skills needed:

  1. Interest in and willingness to interact with children and their caregivers
  2. Understanding that children in the clinic can be noisy, messy or sick
  3. Ability to read in English; Spanish is a plus but not required.

Schedule: Ideally, reading volunteers would be available on a monthly or more frequent basis, although other arrangements are possible. Presently there are opportunities to read to children every day except Wednesday.

An administrative volunteer is sought for the Hunting Park site to support the Medical Department. Skills needed:

  1. Highly organized
  2. Dependable

  4. Able to follow directions, problem-solve and work well with others

Schedule: We seek an administrative volunteer to serve twice a month on a regular basis for at least six months.
