Daniel Chen, MD, FACP, DipABLM joined Esperanza in 2012 as a board-certified Internal Medicine Physician. Dr. Chen earned his Bachelor’s degree from Pomona College and received his Doctorate degree from Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Chen was drawn to Esperanza because of the community and the opportunity to provide whole person care, following the heart of Jesus and join in restoring the kingdom of God. As a second-generation Chinese-American, born and raised in Southern California, Dr. Chen has found immense joy in connecting what he does in his own kitchen to everyone around him through a nutritious, plant-based, and culturally connected approach to food. He has been a contributing author, invited speaker, podcast guest, and workshop presenter and contributes as part of the Medical Advisory Board at the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies. Dr. Chen is also co-chair of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine’s Health Equity achieved through Lifestyle Medicine (HEAL) Initiative. He and his wife, Charlene, also a physician at Esperanza, are living out the adventure of raising their two children plant-strong.
