Juan Pérez
Juan Pérez has led Esperanza’s operations since 2013. In his role as Esperanza’s COO, Juan provides oversight and leadership administration to six departments and over 50 staff members. He is responsible for planning, budgeting and management of various aspects of Esperanza’s non-clinical operations including practice and office management, facilities management, dental services, medication dispensary operations under the 340(b) program, contract negotiations, provider and corporate insurances, and compliance and capital planning.
Juan’s ranging career has always focused on community impact, with prior positions that have included teaching, residential counseling, social services program director and nursing. A cum laude graduate of Temple University with a B.S. degree in biology, he returned to Temple University’s School of Nursing, receiving his BSN degree in December 2006. He was the co developer and a founding teacher (middle school) of Hunting Park Christian Academy, a Christian day school that is located on the same city block as Esperanza’s Hunting Park site.
From 2001 to 2003, Juan served in his initial role at Esperanza Health Center in the position of Medical Assistant while he attended nursing school, providing support to Esperanza’s primary medical care teams. Upon graduation, Juan joined Temple University Hospital as a Medical Respiratory Intensive Care Registered Nurse, where he served from 2007 to 2013. He also served from 2009 to 2013 with Bayada Home Health Care as Clinical Manager, where he supervised home health aides for over 150 clients. Prior to joining Esperanza as Director of Operations, Juan served for several years as a member of Esperanza’s Board of Directors.
Having lived for many years in Esperanza’s North Philadelphia community and with his significant prior experience in health care delivery and social services, he is well-acquainted with the health and social needs of this community.
