Hecmarie Berrios, CRNP
Hecmarie Berrios, CRNP, joined Esperanza as part of the second cohort of our Nurse Practitioner Residency Program. Encouraged to apply by an Esperanza staff member, she was drawn to the organization’s mission and commitment to serving her community, particularly Latino and underserved populations. She values Esperanza’s culturally and linguistically responsive, accessible care and its one-stop approach to supporting patients. Through her work, Hecmarie hopes to inspire other Latinos in her community to overcome barriers, pursue their goals, and recognize that they, too, can accomplish great things. Outside of work, Hecmarie enjoys traveling, amusement parks, movies—especially Marvel—and relaxing with a good crime documentary. She is also a proud dog lover, enjoys EDM and dancing, and believes in making time for self-care and creating meaningful memories. Her favorite verse is Proverbs 31:31: “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” This verse holds special meaning for Hecmarie, as she was told growing up that her gift from God was to use her hands to heal. As a nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner, she sees this calling reflected in the care she provides to patients and families. The verse reminds her that healthcare is not simply what she does, but part of how she is called to serve—with compassion, humility, and faith.
