Esperanza Dedicates New Kensington Health Center

On Thursday, September 6th, Esperanza staff members, supporters, dignitaries and neighbors gathered together on a hot late-summer day to dedicate our new Kensington Health Center at the intersection of Kensington and Allegheny Avenues. With generous support from many financial partners, construction on the new site is underway and is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2019.

“It is to our God and His glory that we commit ourselves to this building today,” said Susan Post, Esperanza’s Executive Director. “The ministry that God has given us is to walk alongside our community, serving with excellent health care. This building, dedicated to the glory of God, is also dedicated to improving the health of the neighborhood we serve. It is for the people of Kensington.”
Earlier in the day, Esperanza’s entire Kensington site staff joined for a time of worship and dedication, sharing testimonies of God’s faithfulness, and then gathered for the unveiling of the building’s cornerstone. 
Esperanza recently received a 2018 Health Center Quality Leader award from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), for achieving the best overall clinical performance among all health centers, placing in the top 30% of the adjusted quartile rankings for clinical quality measures! Pam Kania, MS, HRSA Regional Administrator – Region 3 (photo, 3rd from L) presented the award. Receiving the award on behalf of Esperanza were (L to  R): Bryan Hollinger, MD, MPH, Medical Director; Diane Filter, CRNP, MSN, MPH, Family Nurse Practitioner and Associate Medical Director for Quality Assurance; and, Susan Post, D.Min, MBA, Executive Director.
