Pediatric Care

We believe that each child is a unique and precious gift from God, and we seek to provide comprehensive pediatric care for children from birth through age 18. Care for children is provided by an excellent team including pediatric and family nurse practitioners, physician assistants, family doctors, and pediatricians.

Well-Child Visits

It is very important to schedule regular well-child visits for your child to ensure their healthy development and growth. These visits start shortly after birth and continue through adolescence. Well-child visits are scheduled generally every 2-3 months from birth to age 2, then every year from ages 3 to 18.

Well-child care at Esperanza includes:

  • Tracking of growth and development
  • Parent and child encouragement and guidance
  • Screening of vision and hearing
  • Screening for lead, cholesterol, and anemia
  • Administration of immunizations.

When Your Child is Ill

Please call us to schedule a same-day appointment or bring your child to one of Esperanza’s sites if he or she is ill.

In the event of a life-threatening emergency, always first call 911.

Childhood Immunizations

There are many excellent vaccines available to protect your child from serious illness. All recommended childhood vaccines are provided at Esperanza during well-child visits. It is important that parents ensure that each of their children is properly immunized; this will also protect others in the community from the spread of serious illness. If you have questions about vaccines, please ask—your child’s doctor will be happy to discuss them with you.

Additional Health Services for Children

We also provide many other integrated health services for your child, including nutrition counseling, behavioral health consultation for children and family members, social services support, and fitness activities for children and youth at our Hunting Park site.

School and Sports Physicals

Esperanza’s pediatric care providers also provide required school physicals and sports physicals. Please call us early to schedule your child’s school and sports physicals to meet your school’s deadline!
