Although we represent a wide range of cultures and backgrounds, everyone at Esperanza Health Center shares a common desire to love God and to love our neighbor. Currently, Esperanza has over 200 employees, and the majority of our staff members also live in the neighborhoods of North Philadelphia served by our health center. Our staff includes both life-long north Philadelphia residents, and relative newcomers who have relocated from other parts of the U.S. and even other countries to serve here. Many different church backgrounds and denominations are represented, reflecting the diversity of God’s Kingdom.

Primary Care Physicians

Esperanza Health Center, a faith based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks a board certified Physician (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, or Med/Peds) to provide Christ-centered primary care to the predominantly Latino North Philadelphia community. Nurse Practitioner

Dentist

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Dentist.  The Staff Dentist is responsible for providing clinical dental services and preventive dental care in a community health center setting.  The Staff Dentist supervises the dental assistants and dental hygienists of the community health center in the absence of the Lead Dentist.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth of PA, required
  • Current CPR (BLS) certification, required
  • Pennsylvania DEA registrations, required

Billing Specialist

Esperanza Health Center seeks a part-time Billing Specialist.  The Billing Specialist is responsible for preparing and submitting clean claims (electronically or paper) to various insurance; posting hospital charges and home visit charges, insurance payments/remittances, and patient receipts. This position is responsible for maintaining up-to-date responses to claim denials and correspondence with insurance and performing various collection actions for past due balances from insurance and patient payments which includes review rejected claims and take appropriate actions, including re-billing or transferring bills to second insurance or to the patient. The ideal candidate will work in harmonious partnership with the billing team, health center staff and volunteers to further Esperanza’s mission and vision, to accomplish common goals, and to coordinate various activities.

Education, Skills, and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED, required
• One or more years of medical billing experience, preferred
• Working knowledge of medical billing/collection practices, third-party operating procedures and practices, ICD/CPT coding, and medical terminology

Clerical Assistant

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Clerical Assistant.  The Clerical Assistant is responsible for registering patients’ demographics, insurance, and financial information into the EMR prior to service.  Clerical Assistants utilize insurance websites or directly contact insurance companies to verify eligibility and to confirm provider assignment.  Other responsibilities include preparing fee tickets prior to clinical visit, notating all issues concerning insurance problems or missing documentation.

Clinical Nurse (RN)

Esperanza Heath Center seeks a full-time Clinical Nurse (RN) to provide triage and other direct care to adult, pediatric, and obstetric patients in the Latino and underserved communities of North Philadelphia.  This position is part of the Primary Care Team that provides holistic Christ-centered care to our patients.  Responsibilities include: assessing needs of walk-in and call-in patients, patient health education, coordinating multidisciplinary care for complex patients, providing spiritual care, training of triage staff, and support to clinical team.

This position is currently a triage role, but EHC is presently evaluating possible changes in the clinic workflow which may ultimately result in a greater focus on face to face interactions with patients in the clinic and direct support of clinicians providing primary care.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • RN with a minimum of one year of post-graduate experience, preferably in a hospital setting
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, or willingness to participate in 1-3 months of overseas language immersion training, required

Community Programs Manager

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Community Programs Manager.  The Community Programs Manager promotes programs, recruits participants, and provides direct and indirect logistical support for programs from start to finish.  This position supports a variety of programs in the Community Health & Wellness department, potentially including: Community Health Promoter classes, Senior Program, Cooking and Nutrition classes, Tae Kwon Do, Group fitness classes, Esperanza Fresh, Summer Medical Institute, and more.  Other responsibilities may include: maintaining community partnerships, networking in support of new potential programs, supporting community engagement and upcoming expansion of programs to K&A, grant-writing assistance.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred: preferably in Public Health, Health Education, Community Health, Community Development, Social Work, or related field. 3 years equivalent professional work experience can be considered

Custodial Specialist

Esperanza Health Center seeks a part-time Custodial Specialist.  The Custodial Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly state of the premises of Esperanza Health Center.  Additional responsibilities include maintaining environmental services equipment and supplies, performing cleaning and custodial tasks, and participating in seasonal maintenance projects such as snow removal and landscaping.  Evening and weekend availability is required.  This position is 15 hrs/ week, from 6:30pm – 9:30pm, Monday – Friday.

Director of Care Management

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Director of Care Management.  The Director of Care Management oversees the Care Management Department, which is charged with improving health outcomes and reducing costs associated with high risk and complicated patients and reducing unnecessary ER and hospital admissions.  Responsibilities include: supervising the Care Management team (~10 employees across 3 sites), which includes RN Care Managers, Community Health Workers, and Dietitians; planning strategies for improving patient health outcomes and reducing costs, including projecting current trends using data to inform strategy; facilitating the tracking of reportable measure for grants; monitor data and patient progress specific to site and grant programs; collaborate with other Esperanza Health departments (i.e. Behavioral Health, Social Services) and other outside agencies to promote favorable patient outcomes.  This position will also perform home visits at times, as needed.  This position reports to the Associate Medical Director of QA/QI & PCMH.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Family Nurse Practitioner license and certification required, MS required
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish, or ability to participate in up to 12 weeks of overseas language training, required
  • Demonstrates lifestyle consistent with the teachings of the Bible; able to lead others spiritually and share faith
  • At least 1-2 years’ experience providing clinical services, required
  • Supervisory experience, preferred
  • Experience in community/outpatient setting and case management preferred

Director of Nursing

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Director of Nursing. The Director of Nursing is responsible for the delivery of nursing and clinical support services in the organization and throughout all the EHC facilities.  Responsibilities include: development and implementation of an annual budget for the nursing department and clinical operations; maintenance of evidence based clinical policies and procedures; oversight of orientation and training of nursing department personnel and student externs;  maintenance and implementation of OSHA and employee health procedures and coordination of OSHA staff trainings; supervision of phlebotomy and POC laboratory services; coordination of QA initiatives for the nursing department; participation as Safety Officer on the Emergency Management Team; and provision of effective and efficient nursing care to patients in a multicultural, inner-city setting.

Director of Revenue Cycle Management & Assistant Finance Director

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Director of Revenue Cycle Management & Assistant Finance Director.  The Director of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) and Assistant Finance Director is responsible for revenue cycle management in collaboration with other departments, performs financial analysis, and provides leadership to the Billing Department. This position will be directly and primarily responsible for all internal control functions within the finance department, including billing, accounting, financial reporting, grant reporting, 401(k) administration, and respective policy development. The position will collaborate with Finance Director on an as-needed basis regarding general health center financial management and planning, including audits, budgeting and general financial planning. Independent judgment is required to lead the Billing Team, supervise and coach the Billing Supervisor, and conduct evaluation for the purpose of continuous improvement. This position reports to the Finance Director.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Baccalaureate Degree in business administration, accounting or related field required; master’s degree preferred
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a position with financial and Revenue Cycle Management responsibilities; experience in a medical setting, especially at a Federally Qualified Health Center, and experience in medical billing, highly preferred
  • Strong writing, oral communication, and financial analysis skills required
  • Ability to supervise and manage a department.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

Electronic Medical Records Support Specialist

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Support Specialist.  The EMR Support Specialist plays a key role in providing technical expertise and direct support and ongoing training for staff using Esperanza’s GE Centricity EMR.  By working closely with the clinical staff for training and support, the EMR Support Specialist is actively involved in identifying and implementing enhancements and improvements to workflows and system features.  Primary responsibilities include directing IT desk support, conducting EMR training sessions and follow-up, performance and process improvement, content development for workflow analysis, and maintaining EMR permissions and user lists.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred: Healthcare-related, Information Technology, Communication, Project Management, or other related degree

Medical Assistant

Esperanza Health Center, seeks a full-time Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant will serve as a member of the Medical Assistant team providing support of the clinicians and in the provision of safe and whole person care to our patients. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing adults and children for exams and assists adult practitioners and pediatricians. They will address the needs of walk-in and call-in patients; help make arrangements for needed follow up. The Medical Assistant may also perform phlebotomy, cover the dispensary role, tend to orderliness, cleanliness and stocking of exam rooms between patient visits; assist in organizing storage areas; and nurture the spiritual growth of team members and patients.

Triage Nurse / Assistant Clinical Supervisor

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Triage Nurse (RN) / Assistant Clinical Supervisor.  The Triage Nurse / Assistant Clinical Supervisor provides triage nursing care to Esperanza patients and supervises clinical support staff at our 5th street clinic.  Nursing responsibilities include: assessing needs of walk-in and call-in patients, patient health education, coordinating follow-up and referrals for complex patients, providing holistic spiritual care, and performing basic Medical Assistant duties as needed.  Supervisory responsibilities include providing direct supervision to Medical Assistants at Esperanza’s 5th Street location, monitoring vaccine and clinical supply inventories, in-house lab compliance and quality controls.  This position reports to and collaborates with the Director of Nursing to ensure that efficient, safe, and quality care is provided by the clinical support staff at the 5th street site.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required; college graduate (BSN), preferred
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish, or willingness to participate in overseas language training, required
